Hello lost souls! Alyssa here. Today consisted of chai tea, reading a bit of the Writer’s Workbook, meeting up with a few friends at the cafe and purchasing a round way ticket for my best friend, Amber. She lives back in Texas and is currently going through a really harsh break up with her girlfriend of three years.
The way the whole thing came together was actually very, very unexpected. I received a phone call around 6 PM while sitting at the table in the cafe looking through some books I’ve chosen to read for the next few weeks. Yes, the cafe is merged with a bookstore and yes. It’s also where I work (guilty of being there on my days off 104% of the time). What can I say? Books and coffee are just fun together!
Anyway, as soon as I answered her call she said through a cracked voice and tears that her girlfriend had left her and to sum up our entire conversation she and I quote “really needs to get away”. Luckily, I was able to find a really affordable flight that we both pitched in to pay for (thank you Student Universe!).
It went by so fast, you know? I’m super excited to have her up here! I just… was not expecting for all of that to happen. As soon as it was set in stone I received an email from her mom letting me know how thankful she was that her daughter was able to spend some time away. So after I made my promises of taking care of her daughter and assuring her that nothing too crazy would be done, I relaxed and tried to wrap up what the hell just happened.
Blessed, I had my girlfriend there to help me look through flights and set the dates for her arrival. Amber seems super excited too but she also thinks it happened too fast (in a good way of course). I may have just been feeling this way because I have not had a friend visit me throughout the entire time I’ve been living here.
Well not true. Alex who is my best friend as well (practically my sister) tagged along on the drive up with my mom, uncle and I for the great move. Yes, we did in fact do a three day road trip hauling my Volkswagen Beetle on the back of my uncles Tahoe. If that’s not bad enough, we hauled all my other shit too! Oh but the trip itself was one for the books.
So yes, now that Amber is all ready to fly up on the 8th of December (which happens to be a week and ONE day from now) It’s time to prepare and plan accordingly. Of course, some of the most phenomenal adventures occur when living life in the moment.
Well I’ll be wrapping it up here but I hope you all have a great remainder of your week! Anything new and exciting happen to you guys? Something super and utterly impulsive? Or maybe you’ve just been taking it easy? I’d love to know! Oh and before I forget, Happy December first everyone!
Until next time, See ya!
